I Tested The Waterproofness

I decided to test the S7's waterproofness and took some undre-water photos and a slo-mo video while jumping in a pool. The photos came out great I think and the video was cool too. And my phone still works like new.

I made sure not to plug it in to the charger for a few hours after just in case. I made phone calls nearly immediately after being in the pool with no problems.
 
I have absolutely no intention to test this out, but its good to hear its success in this department, so thanks ymmie for letting us know! ;)

At least with the S7 I might now have a chance of still having a working phone on Sundays after I accidentally drop it down the bog when arriving back home after far to many Guinnessesssessssssss on a Saturday night.

Sure we'll still get posts like "HELP!!! :( My S7 went into the swimming pool, now it doesn't work..what can I do to fix it?"

...and it does have a sealed battery.. Good Luck!

I've had mine in lake, river, pool many times with no problems whatsoever. I also used to take my S5 in the water as well... no problems there either. It was one of the first things I did with my S5. One of the main selling points for me. And, they both take great under water pictures as well!! These phones are designed this way for a reason. Just don't go too deep and it'll be just fine. ;)
 
I've seen the ads on TV, and wasn't the S6 supposed to be waterproof as well?

Again, I'm sure it was in Android Questions:
"HELP!!! :( My Samsung Galaxy S6 went into the swimming pool, now it doesn't work..what can I do to fix it?. Samsung Service won't authorize my repair because of water damage."

In the United Kingdom, advertising must be "Legal, honest and truthful", whereas in China, and possibly the United States, they might not be. Like your Samsung Galaxy wasn't as waterproof as it was advertised to be.

The S6 wasn't waterproof. That was one of the disappointments with that iteration (along with no microSD) that was rectified with the S7.

The jumping part is my problem. It may have been safe this time but I wouldn't do it again. As far as I can tell, the IP68 rating is for softly flowing water, not a high pressure blast which may be mimicked by jumping into the water.

Not sure where you'd get that info. That was one of the biggest complaints on the S6 after it was announced, that water proofing was removed.
