Help i think froyo is not for my samsung galaxy s

I think the froyo is not my samsung galaxy s because I am still unable to update foryo i had tried twice through kies latest version (Kies_1.5.3.10103_102_1) during up gradation everything is working properly but after downloading in upgrade mode an error message pop-up on screen then stop everything. After waiting of an hour I unplug the phone from pc. Fail to upgrade.


My steps are:- (from android forums I had received this procedure earlier.)


1) Ensure you have .NET framework 3.5. its needed to run the kies patcher tool
2) Download latest Kies patcher 1.6 from here.
3) update to latest version of Kies 1.5.3.10103_102
The steps to run the patcher and upgrade/downgrade to Froyo/Eclair
1) Install the Kies Patcher 1.6 that you have just downloaded.
2) Run the Kies Patcher (run as administrator).
3) Choose
 
"an error has accrued during upgrade please recover earlier version" something like that. actually i am not very computer friendly but i have seen video also from youtube that how to upgrade your samsung galaxy s from android 2.1 to froyo and above mentioned procedure step by step very carefully but still unable to update.
 
i had called samsung service station, but they said they dont have the official 2.2 till date. please advice any body what to do now???????
 
I never used kies , I flash 'em all manually
you can try doin that (using odin) there are lots of topics about this here and on XDA
