I think I literally bricked the Hero

Hello, I've lurked around for this topic, one came close but I think mines more buggered up. I rooted my Hero an all I got were bootloops when I loaded a ROM. I went to flash one on and....nothing. When I say nothing I mean this, the charger is plugged in to the wall and the orange light won't come on to show it's charging. I took the battery out and replaced it with a charged one from an EVO and it won't fire up either. This sucker won't fire up regardless what I try. I don't remember what I flashed to it. It just stopped working when I did so. Any ideas? I didn't have an issue flashing my Intercept (aside bootloops X_X). If I can get her back up I did do a nandroid b/u so I can flash that back on.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Did your Sprint HTC Hero lose power or was the battery removed while you were flashing the ROM? Are you sure that you flashed a CDMA and not a GSM ROM?

Unfortunately, the symptoms you are describing does sound like it is hard bricked. Just for future reference, boot loops are often caused by not completely wiping the various partitions or by trying to flash a ROM file that is corrupted.

I'm pretty sure it was a CDMA, not 100% sure. As for bootloops, I know that now (live and learn right?). It didn't lose power during the cycle bat was 100% and was not removed.

And I'm guessing hard brick means paper weight with no luck of recovery?

Then you might have ... if we saw whatn you did we could provide you with more help but with out I know I can't do much for you sorry man

Didn't think so, but hey, not mad here. It was my own dumb fault. Should of documented everything. I wasn't 100% sure if it was fixable so thought I'd ask here.

Thank you anyways guys :)

Ya, it wasn't really mine but ehhh oops? Owner is my boss (not SUPER happy but he has an iOS device ya know with Siri. There is a reason why I don't flash my E3D, bricks would be dropped and I want ICS officially. I'm trying to find what I flashed exactly.

Indeed. A hard brick means it is unrecoverable.

Since you tried another battery and it failed to show signs of life, even when plugging it in to charge, I believe that may be the case for your Sprint HTC Hero. I am really sorry that happened to you, man. :(

There is hope because from my experience hard bricks only come from flashing new. Radios and hboots
And that wasent mentioned sooooo

The only hope that I can think of is if he tries to force flashing of the OEM Android 2.1 RUU. If he can get HTC Sync and the RUU executable to push the image stock image, it could work.

However, in my experience, that is usually hit or miss. Finally, we do not know what ROM that he specifically flashed, so there is that chance that he flashed a GSM ROM accidentally, which would definitely brick it.

Not to be rude but It's she not he
But how would I push an image when the lift doesn't light up when connected to power or USB?

Ah, my apologies. When I am not sure of the gender of someone that I am posting with, I just default to male in most cases. :)

The OEM Android 2.1 RUU might still be able to communicate with your Sprint HTC Hero even if you are having difficulty getting it to charge or be detected by your computer. It is worth a try, and if it does not work at least you made an effort to right a wrong. ;)

It's ok, I know tech is kinda of a mans thing. I like to run with the guys sometime. Anyways, hmmm. How do I go about getting the 2.1 RUU? What is the RUU anyways? Never heard of it. Like I said I did do a Nandriod back up before I tinkered with it (least I knew to do that before I went on a flashing frenzy) And how would you flash it? I do have the latest Sync thanks to my E3D

Wow, well I googled the 2.1 RUU and found HTC Mobile Phone Support - HTC Hero? (Sprint) - Downloads so I am downloading the HTC Hero (Sprint) 2.1 Software Update | 05.19.201. Looks to be a .exe so I just plug the Hero in and run it?

You can try it buy there is no guarantee that it will work

Does your computer register your phone when you plug it in?

A glimpse of hope is all I need.
And no I don't think so. I have all the ADK stuff installed and fastboot for my E3D, not sure if it'll come in handy for "Operation Save the Hero" (sounds ironic when you think about the name lol)

Haha I like the name lol... Humm what happens when you plug the phone into the computer?
Sorry gentalmen been busy at work. Trying to sell off computers and phones (yes including the devil BB and iOS 5 but I <3 the Atrix we have I swear I'm going to be an Android collector)

Anyways, nothing the computer doesn't even make a blip. I ran the RUU and it didn't detect anything, the ADB shows nothing in devices :(. I hard bricked a phone, feels bad man. Bootloops annoying, hard bricks sad face.
