Root I think I messed up somewhere

No OTG. Is the aosp on hammerhead by google the correct driver for adb? should i disable auto driver in windows and install something else like the pda net drivers? I don't know what to do at this point.

Yeah that sounds like the right cable.... Try It should work. Just put the ROM and Gapps package on the thumb drive and the navigate to them and install.

Otherwise since you have fastboot working you can flash the stock factory images through fastboot and start over fresh and then install DU afterwards.

The OTG wouldn't work while in TWRP recovery?
You could try the PDA drivers... Doesn't hurt to try.
If you mean by auto detect and install drivers... No, manually install the drivers through device manager yourself.
 
Ok got things worked out. So I misunderstood what the wtrp "wipe" would do. Phone started fine, just like a factory reset, duh. I though it was like a delete internal system thing. I assumed it would bootloop after the wipe. I am all set I think, using wug and going to flash the rom and gapps thru that. Do I have to do the kernel as well?

Awesome man... Glad you got it worked out! :thumbup:
You don't have to install custom kernel, bit I would highly recommend either installing Franco or ElementalX kernel... For smoothness, performance, features and increased battery life.
If you decide to install a customer kernel... Just let me know and I'll help walk you through it... It's really easy!!
 
Hopefully last question. I cannot update my gplay music all access app or install chrome beta. Package file not signed correctly. Trying to uninstall, but not sure what name of it is. I deleted the chrome beta and tryed to install and now it's OK. Can't delete the play music even in DU remove system apps tweak. At least I don't think I see it.
