Help I Think I'm in the Twilight Zone!!

My phone is laying on the table about 3 feet away and starts talking to me! I was talking to my wife about lifting something over my head and then the stupid phone started talkng (I jumped outta my skin-volume maxed!!) telling me all about it as it googled all by Itself!! Then there are other times while on the table, not touched, it will say " I didn't catch that"!!!

This is driving me nuts! Is there anyway to turn this off?

This is called OK Google from any screen, and yes you can turn it off.

Go to Settings - Google - Search & Now - Voice - OK Google Detection and toggle off "From any screen"
