I think Sprint should've named the HTC Evo 4g

...the "HTC 4G"

I'm not going to elaborate on this too much, but I just think that would've really set the stage for the first 4g phone in the US, kind of like how the "Droid" put Android on the map.

People would be like yah brah I got the 4g, I'm texting from my 4g, I love these apps on the 4g. It just has a more simple, but effective message then "Evo 4g".
 
people can still say that as a slang name for the phone. they probably didnt name it the 4g since the majority of buyers for this phone aren't in a 4g market and they don't wanna scare off potential buyers that think the phone would be worthless if they aren't in a 4g market.
 
ive never realy said evo 4G. but i can definitely see where you're coming from. "4G" sounds good
 
I can see the confusion argument, but doesn't calling it "HTC Evo 4g" instead of just "HTC Evo" do the same thing?
 
Well, you have the iPhone 3g...now if you called it the "3g" I would see that causing confusion as well. Not with us geeky folk, but your average user that has no idea what 3g, edge, cdma, evdo, gsm are.

"Is your 4G using 4G or 3G?"
"What, my phone IS 4G"
"No, i mean, is it connected via 4G?"
"I'm holding 4G in my hand, what are you talking about?"

I guess I'm saying 4g is going to be confusing either way, but the same argument could've been made about the droid using android; however, that worked out brilliantly.

Either way this is a moot point because it's too late to change. I posted this last night because it was on my mind and in real life I have no one to discuss this phone with ;)
 
When I went into the sprint store and asked about contracts and what not. The worker wanted to sign me up on the spot, I said no because the phone I want doesn't come out until the summer. He said which one I said the Supersonic he just smiled and said oh you mean the Evo4G. I said yes
