Help I want my original Gmail acct

I set up my 1st Gmail acct 7/14. About 7/16 my fone overheated & wiped. When I set up my phone again, it wouldn't let me use my original Gmail acct. Can I now delete the new Gmail acct I was forced to set up & instead go back to using my original?

I can't answer that without knowing why you couldn't just re-enter the original one in the first place.

Can you log on to the original one via a web browser? Try going to play.google.com and signing in via the original account - does it work? Can you add the original as a second email address? Remember that any contacts/apps you've added since the event are associated to the new account rather than the original one, so you'll need to do some more transferring or re-installing if you switch your main account (you should still be able to use the original one for email with the phone with no trouble).

I can tell you that IF you delete the gmail account, you will never, ever, be able to use it again.

What you need to do is to log into Google Account on a PC, find Devices and remove that phone as a device.

Once that device is removed from any account, you can then start the phone up and when it asks for your account, enter the one you had. Provided you did not forget the password.

I lost my favorite gmail account name by not understanding the above.
Google will NOT under any circumstance help you recover an account you deleted, or have lost the password to...
make darn sure to set up Backup emails and phone numbers so that you can recover a lost password.

Thanks, Hadron & AZgl1500. I just now found my original Gmail acct through Google & subsequently deleted the 2nd (& unwanted) email acct. My Docs info was lost in the process, but no biggie. I'm happy. ..at least for now.
