I just activated lollipop on my phone today. Not thrilled with any of the changes so far. I am most annoyed with the fact that when I use the button on the side of my phone to silence it I now have to select if I want No interruptions (not even from alarm) either Indefinitely or for a set amount of hours. I just want my phone on silent. I also want my alarm to work. What kind of loopholes do I now have to jump through to make this happen because I can't figure it out. Help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the advice. However, I don't want my phone to be on vibrate, I want it on silent. So far, I can't find a way to do that. There is no way to set priority on silent, only with vibrate and sound. I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 btw.

Right I don't have lollipop on any of my devices right now so you should leave a reply on the post I linked so that someone who does can help you.
I know the notifications on lollipop are causing a lot of people distress so I feel your pain :thumbsupdroid:

Yep, I haven't figured this out yet either, and am gutted HTC seemed to have dumped the Do Not Disturb function. Have resorted to just switching phone to silent mode for now. Still doesn't switch off led notifications (which DND did !), and its really annoying to get woken up by my wife asking what the flashing light is!

I have an s5 also...if u haven't found out how to use your alarm on "silent" here's how..... do not use your volume button to mute your phone...quite the opposite turn your sound all the way up...pull down your notification panel and click on the little pencil to edit. Now, go to the "available buttons" and find "always interrupt" hold it down and drag it to your "active buttons" list... now when u pull down your notification bar "always interrupt" will be there if your phone is on silent that button will be grayed out...so make sure your sound is on
..hold down "always interrupt " and it will bring u to the "interruption settings... notice now at the top of your screen there is a star? That means your "priority interruptions" are active... once u are at the interruption settings...u can check events and reminders...calls...or messages....if u leave all them "unchecked" ..they are silent. ..notice it says "alarms are always priority interruptions" ...your alarm will work now but u will not have any sound from calls or anything...so "to have your phone on silent and have an alarm " you actually have to turn up your sound and use the "always interrupt" button so your "priority interruptions" are active...which your alarm is by default....hope that made sense. ...

I still have it, but maybe that's a custom ROM thing? I've never used stock HTC Lollipop, so wouldn't know.

Me either, I mean stock HTC. Its not in ARHD, and couldn't see it in Viper rom either. Wonder if its just M8 roms then? Need to check for a mod pack or back to KK.

Good to know, only had a brief play with Viper and didn't see it in quick settings drop down. Will have to have a more in depth root around over weekend.

Yeah, it's one of the options in the native quick settings pull down - pull that down and tap the edit icon, and "DND" is one of the things you can select. Again, on the M7 anyway. Can't recall whether it was one of the defaults, I always edit things the quick settings straight away.
