Currently i'm on stock but running any ROM I would think wouldn't affect gameplays that is based on the hardware not software. Correct me if i'm wrong.

The Android Community calls it "rooting" because you gain administrative access as the root user of the file system. It's not particularly hard to do depending on which firmware you have. Some root exploits only work with specific versions. You will find specific information about the i777 in this thread.
