I wish it would work as a PHONE too!

I can't carry on a conversation on my Motorola Droid using the handset (as opposed to speaker or headset). It goes elsewhere like dialing voicemail and the other party can't hear me. I'm sure I'm not touching the quick dial or new call buttons. It's driving me nuts. I love everything about the device except that I can't use it as a phone. ANY IDEAS SUGGESTIONS would be helpful. Verizon can't help - been to the store twice. I even got a replacement 'phone' and it does exactly the same thing. Am I doing something utterly idiotic? ERRGGGGG

The proximity sensor should be turning your screen off when you put it by your face when on a call. Either you have very bad odds and recieved 2 phones with busted proximity sensors ot you have a program installed thats causing them to not work right.
