I can't seem to figure out how to add one to my phone... if someone could direct me to a how to guide it would be greatly appreciated...

hey drgonzo I followed Sneakey_zekey's instructions over @ alldroid.org and it worked for myself perfectly..
Here they are :

when you place it in droidroot helper tools folder. the one called bootanimation.zip. you delet the one all ready there, right. make sure you mount system read/wright when using droid root helper. you can also place it on your sdcard and use root explorer to copy/past it in /data/local. place the bootanimation in the tools folder of your SDK and open prompt window and cd to your tools folder and run adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local

OR just download root explorer from the market, it is a file explorer. Hit remount as rw then you just go /system/media and delete or move the current bootanimation.zip, then go to your sdcard and find the new bootanimation.zip and copy it to /system/media. Reboot.

I think I'm gonna give this way a try, I'll report back with results.

After realizing Root Explorer cost money I used the Root Tools method and it worked perfectly. Now I've got the blue matrix load screen running. Thanks for the help guys.

I attempted this using root explorer and instead of getting a boot animation at all it skipped to a buggy slide to open screen. I didnt change anything as for permissions. was i supposed to?

Code:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local

You don't need root, or to change your permissions, or anything overly spectacular.

The same can be done with Root Explorer or any other app that allows you to view your /system, /data folders. just move the bootanimation.zip file to /data/local and you are done.

But saying that you are my pirspiration wouldn't make sence. Although I was close to working up some pirspirationg trying to get my first one up and running but I managed it! Will have video later most likely. It was quite simple actually. Makes me giggle and my friends jealous.

I hear ya. I have a whopping 2 hours and 20 minutes into that one. Wonder what I could do in 4 hours now that I know what I'm doing with the file structure and all that stuff.

Bah! ... that one is good enough. ;)

Haha yeah. My current one is just my name shaking around above the droid eye . I plan to eventually put a creepy smile below the eye that opens with a sharp toothy grin.
