i wouldn't mind if metro evolved into a contract carrier.

don't forgetvthat as you are going to pay out for your phone, Metro will have to have some interest on it.
I don't think they should do it. Buying my phone and paying less for the service is the reason I switched to metro.

with my calculation (remember i said i wouldnt pay more than 20 MORE dollars than i am paying now):

60 unlimited x 12 months + 499 = 1219 off contract
80 unlimited x 12 months + 199 = 1159 on contract

yet my numbers are a little different these are only my views on what should happen

60 - 80 = 20. 20 * 12 = 240. 240 < 499. So no.
even with TWO years: 20*24 = 480 < 499. Still no.

Are you sure?

T-Mobile Employee Stabs Double Billed Man For Good Measure

A T-Mobile employee decided that the best way to deal with a complaining customer -- was to stab him. The 59-year-old customer went to a store outside of Philadelphia this week to complain about being double-billed, but according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, received a knife in the rib cage instead of a refund.

"Apparently he was double-billed. During the course of the verbal exchange, it becomes heated," a police officer tells the local ABC affiliate. "As the victim is going out of the store after the altercation, you can see store clerk stab him in the side."

In a statement, a T-Mobile spokesman insisted that the company was "shocked and saddened" to hear about the incident. It remains unclear whether or not the customer got his refund.

the no contract is what made metro pcs what it is today. yea we pay up front for our phones but we have the liberty and the freedom to stop paying when we want and no cancelation fee nor any danger of ruining our credit like with contract carriers.

Plus I don't believe anyone has ever been double billed by metro or stabbed at a metro store.

Exactly, I'll tell u what metro pcs should start doing, and im sure there might a flaw or two in this suggestion but atleast its a broad idea. i think metro pcs should start selling their uicc card like simple mobile sells their sim cards for service. that way people that are tired of their bill on tmobile or at&t but want to keep their phone hey come with us get ya phones unlocked first buy our uicc card and bam ya have instant savings! ok so probs metro might have with this options is people might end up just buying unlocked phones instead of a feature full branded metro phone so then $550 for a metro pcs samsung galaxy s3 might do so well when other users can get them for around $400 or less. also we have band and frequency issue i know gsm phones operate on different bands of frequencies so that might be another issue.
