Ice Cream Sandwich/Gingerbread

Will we be able to upgrade to the ICS OS when it comes out?
Is it something we'd want/need to do?

i hope so, yes.. and i dont see any reason why not. and im pretty sure ice cream sandwich will be a solid improvement and we'd probably want to upgrade to the newest version of android.. maybe we'd get a leaked version in a couple of months

Cool, good to know.
I guess Im just worried about my iphone experience...iphone 3g and 'upgraded' to the 4.0 iOS and was downhill from there....

from what i have read, yes, we can upgrade.

and ICS is out in another week or so or at least annouced!

I wouldn't be worried about a repeat. The SGS2 is powerful enough to handle any Android updates we'll see in the next few years. Think of it like installing Win7 on a Vista-capable machine, whereas the iPhone 3G problem was like installing Win7 on a Win95-capable machine -_-

Edit: On-topic, I think we'll see a few good custom roms of ICS quite quickly once it's out!

yeah, will be interesting to see android 4 next week or so.. hope that samsung work on it and release a solid stock firmware running ICS soon
