Yes But Apparently we won't be seeing the update until 2012 However Rumor has It By February 15th
Agreed. ProofWhere did you hear this Feb 15th rumour? That's news to me. That's a lot earlier than i was expecting.
in the past it has taken around 6 months for Moto to adopt the new version and push it out.
Agreed. Proof
Not that droid-life is gospel, but the rumor is 6 months give or take. My bet is May/June timeframe, but then again, Moto is decent with the updates.
Google owns Moto - I guess we'll see if that changes anything!
That's where my my money is. They may be a little quicker because it's such a major upgrade, but I'm still not anticipating earlier than May. I'd love to be wrong thoughGoogle owning Moto probably won't help. The problem is that VZW has to sign off on the upgrade.
On the DX we went through about 5 leaks of GB before VZW finally signed off on one.
Gingerbread was released On 6 December 2010. The DX finally got the official build in June of 2011.
When ICS is pushed out by Verizon, will it be mandatory to switch to it, or will we have a choice?
I'm ordering a RAZR today. When ICS does get released for RAZR will the buttons, Home etc., become useless hieroglyphics?
If it's anything like the current updates, you'll have the choice to say "do not install". But... You'll have to do that ALL the time. It constantly reminds you to update. I had that with my Droid Charge for a while (I was trying to determine if the update on release day was the problem at first). It got super annoying to say NO every day.
The easy way to avoid OTAs is to root, and touch one of the precious bloat files. Delete Kindle, or just move it to your sd card, and you'll never get OTAs again. If it's anything like the current updates, you'll have the choice to say "do not install". But...
