Help Icona A500 Stuck on Acer Splash Screen

As the title says, my tablet is stuck on the Acer splash screen. I tried plugging in a USB keyboard, pressing the left volume button while powering on. It says something about clearing the cache, then gives the SD update cmd: recovery, then it says "Booting recovery kernel image".

Well it just sits there forever and pressing the home key on the keyboard at any point during this process does nothing. Am I missing something about the factory reset process?

I'm not rooted and have only had this tablet for 2 days. My sister turned it off during an update I think and this is how I found it. I could try an RMA but if its fixable myself obviously I wanna go that route.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

EDIT: yes, I realize I misspelled iconia in the title

Did it go through all the install process? How long did it take?
Try another image. So when you do it the keyboard way does it show the recovery menu and if so does it give you any options like clear any files first and such?

It may be better to return it for a new one. I dont know if i would mention that it was turned off in middle of update though.... Or make your sister buy you a new one...

When I flash the image it shows the little android dude and a loading bar, takes about 4 minutes or so?? then reboots. then stays on the Acer screen.

When i plug in a keyboard nothing changes. the keyboard gets no power.

yes, but now there is a new problem. I tried to reflash the package again and this time in red letters it says "recovery verified failed" and wont boot the update.zip file on the sd card.
