Help ICS 232 killed MMS recieving

DRMMR02

Newbie
I have a Droid Bionic and recently flashed it to ICS 232 and rooted the phone. After I did that, I have no MMS receiving capability over text. I can send picture messages fine and the people receive them. But when someone sends me a picture, it just never goes through. Not a failure to download the attachment or some other discernible error. It doesn't come through at all. Somewhere between their phone and my phone the picture message vanishes. This occurs with the stock text messaging application as well as third party apps like GO and Handcent. After upgrading to ICS 232, I have zero MMS reception.

Any ideas what could be wrong? I really don't wanna factory wipe the phone or revert back to 902 until the official ICS comes out as I really like other ICS features. Is there some setting or something I can change or reset with MMS that might have gotted messed up with the upgrade?

It sounds like you already know the inevitable answer to your question, but before factory resetting... It sounds like you have other MMS packages installed and this sounds familiar to an issue I saw with a dialer a long time ago. The ultimate solution to the dialer problem was to get one of the packages to be the default. Somehow they had gotten a new dialer installed and neither the default nor the third party dialer was set as default. Thus you would open a dialer and dial out fine, but when a call would come in neither would "take responsibility" for the incoming call, so it wouldn't ring. I really don't know what the short term solution was, but after "fixing" the problem they ended up having to factory reset anyway.

You may try uninstalling all of the packages you have and clearing the data, cache and defaults on the stock package and seeing if that helps. If you can get it to be the default, then that should resolve your issue. Then you should be able to install what you want and set it as default.

Of course, this may very well not be the issue. It just sounded familiar. Good luck to you.

Have you tried a soft reset. You can do that 1 of 2 way. First pulling the battery and waiting a min then putting the battery back in and booting up. Second by holding both volume buttons and the power button until the menu and then disappear's. It seams when the ICS leaks are installed a reboot usually fixes most of the bugs. I have been running .232 since it came out using handcent with no issues.

I strongly recommend that everyone do a soft reset after installing a system update as the first thing they do.

I am surprised at the number of people who not only don't do a soft reset but also don't even reboot after installing a system update.
