ICS and Custom ROMS's

Hello Everyone,

I am a devoute Android lover and even asked my company get me an Android phone instead of the iPhone POS they currently use.

I work on 3G and 2G Cellular networks in the UK and have a vast Network knowledge.

I am trying to dive head first into the world of Linux and have even gone as far as setting up Ubuntu DB on my work laptop so as to get a better feel.

Most of the 3G Network elements actually run off a cut down form of Red Hat Linux so its a good idea to learn the language as much as you can.

I have read a lot of threads about custom roms and rooting your device.

Whilst i am very interested in having a play i am concerned or may be usure if once you root your device, if you have problems (ie. the camera doesnt work etc) is it possible to return it to it's un-rooted state so as to get all the phone features working?

I nearly went ahead with the Primo ROM and ICS update, but stopped when i saw the threads on here about how the camera does not work.

for me any update has to improve, not exclude, features from the device.

would appreciate any help you guys can give me.

If you have any questions about how the networks work feel free to ask (Pretty darn good on Nokia Siemens Networks/ Nokia Networks kit)
