ICS is here!

Are you kidding?
Faster, smoother, more functional, etc. C'mon...big difference. I don't have time to name all the specifics, just google for info if you really want to know what changed/improved.

No, I'm not kidding. I don't feel that I should have to do a google search to figure out what is better after I've run an update. It should be obvious. Granted I only used the Tab for less than 30 mins after the update, but aside from the home screen being blown away and it looking aesthetically different I didn't see anything that was obviously "better".

You say "toMato", I say "tomAto".

I just installed 4.0.3 via OTA and am trying to resize my homescreen wallpaper to fit the way it did before when 100% of the picture filled the screen. (It now is cropping it smaller).

Also,is there a PDF manual link for 4.0.3 like there was for Honeycomb?

Just a warning about doing a factory reset with ICS. If Flash isn't installed with ICS on the Tab, you'll need to install it yourself. It's no longer available on the market, so make sure you have the .APK file before doing a factory reset.

Is there a way to delete 4 of the 5 home screens?
Install a launcher. I know Nova Launcher does it.

After the update i cant find my android keyboard, anyone knows where i can get it.
Several people in this thread have said that the Android keyboard isn't in ICS on the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Just a tip for those who haven't updated yet. Do screen shots of your home pages before you update. It makes putting your home screens back together a bit faster.
Brilliant tip. So simple.

I kept checking and checking and no and all of a sudden yes, 4.04 now on my US 16 wifi tab 10.1.
So far so good. Seems snappier maybe, I don't know, maybe wishful thinking. :)
Yeah wish I would have seen that screen shot tip yesterday!

Got my tablet back the other day to update to ICS and was disappointed to find there was no update yet so i was sending it back tomorrow and checked for update and it was waiting for me so i got it installed now its time to root it and she what it can do.

If you have the WiFi model, I believe the US version is the same.

If you have the 3G model from Rogers/Bell/Telus then it's not available yet as the carriers will be customizing the apps and settings for their own uses. Current timelines puts the update later this month or September for some.

I have the 3G model and I used Odin to flash the UK version on mine. It works great (both 3G and WiFi) and it doesn't have any of the Rogers bloatware apps, bookmarks, or settings. It's the Tab I always wanted.
:D

I've got a 3G Rogers version as well and would like to get rid of the bloatware, etc. Do you have a link for the UK version? Last time I tried to update I thought I had bricked my tab so I want to make sure I'm using the proper firmware. Thanks.

You can get the UK version at sammobile.com

As mentioned, you can sign up at Sammobile to download it yourself, or you can get it from this storage site:

Hotfile.com: One click file hosting: P7500XXLQ8_P7500OXALQ8_ITV.zip

Once you download it, you need to extract the Zip file and use Odin to flash the 'tar' file to your device. You will also need the Samsung drivers so Odin can connect to your Tab:

[Driver][12.07.2012]SAMSUNG USB Drivers for Mobile Phones ♣LATEST VERSION♣ - xda-developers

This page has a link to a storage site to download the file.

Once you flash the update, you can play with it a bit. But I recommend you do a factory reset to wipe it clean and start fresh. You can then choose the language you want UK or US english and configure it again. It runs perfectly on my Rogers 3G Tab.
:)

Thanks for responding. I went ahead and did it before I saw your response and that was the file I used. It worked perfect. I didn't do a factory reset but still might. Will that get rid of the Rogers bloatware? Thanks for your help!

Yes, the update leaves your settings and previous apps on there. A reset will wipe it clean and reset the firmware to the defaults for the international region which means no added bookmarks, apps, etc.

How do I know which file to select when using Odin? The .pit file is obvious, but it says to choose bootloader, pda, csc. I don't have that many files.
I have the .pit file, a tar.md5 and a dll.

I have the .pit file, a tar.md5 and a dll.

To make it easy, create a new folder. Put Odin, the Odin .ini, the tar.md5, and the dll files in the folder (not 100% sure you need the dll but put it in there anyway).
You don't need the pit file.
When you start Odin, click on the PDA tab, and use the tar.mda file.
On the left side of the Odin screen, you'll see some items that can be checked, two of which are "auto reboot" and "f.reset time". Check those two and leave the others unchecked.

My comment about Flash Player can be ignored at the moment. Adobe hasn't removed it from the Android Market yet (it said it would on 14/08/12). Having said that, it's still worth keeping a copy of the .APK file ready for when Adobe does remove it from the market.

Anyone in B.C. Canada get the ota update yet? Just curious.

Hi DC.
If you haven't gotten it yet, by all means flash it with Odin or get it with Kies.
Odin is easier as you don't have to reset the tab like you would if using Kies.
But I like doing a reset as it gives a nice, clean install of the update.
I've now done the update via Odin, Kies and OTA. All three work fine.

Ok Thanks Jack, I'll get around to that then, since the ota seems to have not appeared back on my tab. I did a factory reset before the update just cause, and then when i set up my accounts again I never got the message again.

Nothing here in Alberta yet (OTA or Kies). I'm getting quite frustrated! I might have to work up the courage to flash it. I was just hoping to get the official update considering it has been rolling out for close to a month.
