ICS - Keep the numberpad active during a call

Is there a way to keep the numberpad active during a phone call? I often call numbers that use automatted messages and having to press the numberpad icon to bring up the numberpad is annoying.

Don't quote me, but due to having a total of 5 smart phones, it's pretty standard to have to open up the dial pad after calling someone.
