Root ics kernel on gingerbread?

so i read that incredikernel(ics) is still compatible with gingerbread...if so does this mean every other ics kernel (Linux version 2.6.38.8) :rolleyes:

All kernels made for the incredible should be compatible with all versions of android for the incredible. The only exception being an AOSP kernel is usually only compatible with AOSP ROMs and a modified stock kernel is usually only compatible with stock rom ports and cooked stock roms.
Just always make sure you have a good nandroid to restore to.
 
I'm using the latest ICS Incredikernel with CM 7.2 RC1. Much smoother when zooming the apps drawer or flipping screens with the Go Launcher. I'm fully OCed but never crash. Using SmartassV2.
