Help ICS Media player changes

There are 2 issues with the media player updates that really bug me.

First is that I used to be able to start the media player by pressing play on my bluetooth headphones even if it was not started. Now I have to open it from the phone first. Really annoying.

Secondly when I disconnected headphones or turned off the headset the media player used to pause. Now it carries on playing via speakers. I cannot find any settings for this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use a pair of Sennheiser PX360BT headphones and I just paired them up, pressed the play/pause button on my phones and Music Player started up automatically. I had not previously started the app. I then powered the headphones off and the player paused automatically. Powered my phone back up and pressed the play button on the phones and off we went again from where we left off. So it works for me.

I'm assuming you also have updated to ICS then. Hmmm, I wonder what else could be causing this. I did also change to Go Launcher but that was a couple of days before the ICS update and everything did seem fine between the 2.

Very odd. It's now pausing proper;y on disconnect. Still not opening automatically. Sigh. Looks like I'll have to do a slow uninstall of recent things until I find the culprit. There actually wasn't much between the upgrade and noticing though. I'ts just remembering which ones those were and which I have added since.

I have tried setting touchwiz as the default launcher, doing a reboot and re-testing the starting of the media player bit.

Both issues seem to have gone away mostly. They still re-occur now and then even though no new software has been installed. I think sometimes as well it is just a large delay before music starts from BT play use.

I've been pondering a full factory reset and re-install of apps (I have had various apps pause greatly or just bomb out) but am mightily a feared of ye eMMC dragon.

It has now gone back to not starting the music player automatically (this has been like this a week or so before the update.

Sometimes it will not even play the music if the phones are re-connected and it has been a few hours since I used the music player, even when I can see paused music in the notification bar. I have to press play at the very least and then I have full control again.

What I have noticed actually is that the media player keeps getting kicked out of the running apps list too. Sometimes it will still be running and in the notification bar while paused overnight, sometimes it will be gone after pausing for a 10 minute conversation.

All this is since the ICS update and I have installed nothing additional since.

Even when media player is still in the notification bar then if it has been paused for 10 or 20 minutes the headphone controls will not start it. I press play from the notification bar and suddenly they can control it. Almost as if the whatever is listening for bluetooth commands is being shut down to conserve battery.
