I found this sweet ICS Boot Animation over on XDA..It was edited by Diliban to work for MDPI devices..I did not create this and i am only sharing a good find with good friends :D....So check out his original thread over at XDA ..Heres the link for the XDA thread.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295277 select this to download --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=744294&d=1318152057..It cannot be flashed..For anyone not sure of changing your Boot Animation.. The instructions are in his post..Or use mine...Be sure to make a backup in CWM beforehand incase somehow you screw something up:p

Using Root Explorer

Download Dilibans bootanimation.zip on to your sd

Using Root Explorer extract bootanimation.zip

Mount system R/w

Move current bootanimation.zip to pc or new folder on your sd (if ya wanna save it, otherwise delete it)

Go to folder where extracted ICS animation has been moved, long press, select move

Move the ICS bootanimation.zip to System/Media and paste

The new ICS boot animation MUST BE NAMED bootanimation.zip

Mount system R/o, exit Root explorer , and reboot

Thanks to Diliban for this edited boot animation...ive tried many...this is the best ive come across

Idea of what it looks like (The actual boot animation will be much brighter and clear..this is just a google image..to give people who arent all ready aware of what it looks like an idea)

If you wanna go for the whole ICS theme you can also get an app off the market called Super Status bar..with this app you can completely redesign your notifacation bar...or use a preset theme..which would be the ICS theme..they have many..it is free so expect a few adds !.....I would reccomend the Pro version..

And if you wanted almost the whole phone themed out in ICS...Buy ADW EX and theres a ICS theme for it called ICS Sqrd

It would seem as if they somehow disabled this in 2.3.6,before update I used "BLuFeNiX" program for turning any animated GIF into a boot ani.But like I said I think they disabled this. In 2.3.6(worked everytime on 2.3.4),cause when I run this program my phone reboots and still has the same boring ass boost logo is their lol.

Do you have the bootanimation file since the update...I messed around and tried a few things and overwrote it. Now I just the black screen instead of animation.

when you upgrade/accept the ota update it overwrites alot of the system files that you may have altered..

none the less if you are rooted and have a file explorer like root explorer you should still be able to change your bootani

it may be in a different location..check data/local...

The boot animations appear to be in the QMG file format.
in /system/media/
bootsamsung.qmg
bootsamsungloop.qmg

We will have to wait for a custom kernel that supports bootanimation.zip fies.

We have always had support for bootanimation.zip as far as I know. You can check my sig for a program to make boot animations from animated GIFs. I even used my program to flash this animation... it looks pretty cool.

Tried using your program with the bootanimation.zip that the OP linked. It said it successfully flash, and I did find the bootanimation.zip in /data/local/... however, I still got the stock Samsung flash...

Have you tested it on stock 2.3.6 (updated) ultras?

Oh, that's right. 2.3.6 disables boot animations, but I recall someone saying they could fix it. (I think it was either chevanlol360 or mavrikmeerkat)

I use 2.3.4, and have not tested 2.3.6 at all.
