ICS on Razr?

If the other manufacturers are saying late march then they probably mean early to late April. I never take manufacturers promised announced software updates time lines seriously because there's always some bug or problem that delays it.

That being said there's already ICS snapshots for the Razr like two weeks ago. The one with the four lock screen circle options. Seeing how the Razr has already gotten 2 maintenance updates and the phone hasn't been out 4 months yet talk about support.

Being that the Razr is a Droid, Verizon's brand, RAZR, Motorola's brand, shows that this phones is very important to Verizon and Motorola. They already have the Maxx, 16gb w/o SD card and 32gb with SD card versions, and two other colors of this phone! Even a BOGO sale today to get more phones out in the wild.

I see the Razr getting ICS first and if not then right after the first phone but the way Motorola has been giving us these very good updates that made an already good phone even better tells me 2 things. We get it first and if its buggy we get a quick update in two weeks to fix it. We get it right after the first phone and the first phone is buggy and the Razr is perfect. JMO!

HTC have just announced a bunch of their handsets will be receiving ICS from end of March onwards. Sony also stated that their Xperia line-up would also receive ICS sometime in March. My question is, are Motorola even close to getting ICS on the Razr??? Any longer than March and i'd be pissed off especially if HTC and Sony have done it by then!!!

Motorola will be LUCKY to have it by July 4th IMO. They're usually the last to have it. They have to remove all the features, skin the crap out of it, and then fill half of it with bloatware first.

Last to have it? Motorola has been very good at providing updates. Like I said on my previous post 2 maintenance updates under 4 months for the Razr that's unheard of outside of a nexus device. HTC Rezound just got there first update. Samsung? let's not start talking about the Fascinate. And isn't HTC Sense a thicker more intrusive skin than blur? Sony has a skin also don't know what its called. Bloatware is nothing more than extra apps.

If Motorola has done to ICS what they have done with Gingerbread, those extra animations and screen rotations we see on our Razr's are blur not gingerbread, we are in for a treat. The tech head in me is wanting ICS first, but being first is not always being the best, Galaxy Nexus anyone! I'm willing to wait a couple months for it to be almost perfect. But if ICS comes end of March I won't complain.

Not sure where you have been but Motorola has been the quickest to update its devices from the Droid X onward. They in fact have the least intrusive skin bar far than HTC or Samsung.

As others have stated, Motorola has been pretty quick in providing updates...

As for bloatware, Motorola places it in the image at the specific request of Verizon. Let
s not forget that Verizon has to approve the image before it's allowed to be distributed to Razr handsets.

If The RAZR gets ICS before July I will be shocked. We've been down this road time after time after time with android devices.

Being a new Android user I was quite disappointed to learn that the OS developer, the phone manufacturer AND the carrier all have to be on board to release an update.

And being a Canadian on a "budget" carrier, I feel pretty jaded about the prospects of getting ICS in a reasonable amount of time.

Your disappointment is likely understandable...

That said the process that needs to be followed is likely no different for iPhone users or WM7 users.
