ICS on Tablet worth it?

Hey, first post, so sorry if I fudge something here.

I've had a Galaxy Tab 10.1 for some time now, and I'm running 3.2 (Honeycomb), unrooted. I've rooted things before, and I've considered doing it to this, but the only conceivable reason I can imagine doing this is for putting ICS on it. Would it be worth it? I admittedly haven't done a ton of research into 4.0, but is it something I should look into? I don't feel anything is really missing from 3.2, but if you guys have any thoughts on it, please let me know.

Yes, ICS will be a nice improvement as it includes hardware acceleration to speed up graphics and improve processing times. Samsung has stated that the Tab 10.1 is slated to get an official ICS update sometime in this first quarter, so it could be in a week or it could be a month. But it should be fairly soon. XDA ROMs of ICS on the Tab look great, so I'm looking forward to it. Mine under warranty for about 8 more months, so I'll wait for the official ROM. I've been happy with it using v3.2 so the official Samsung ICS version with TouchWiz will likely be fine for me.

If there'll be an official update, I'll just wait then. No sense in the trouble if it'll be a month or so. I also have the "Oil Slick" or Newton Rings issue, and I'm kinda hesitant to send it in, as I use it for work, play, and everything else. Can't be without for so long, or won't. :p I appreciate you telling me, I hadn't seen that.

I wonder if they'll backup my stuff and return it as is, or what. I'm sure there's a link on here from someone else, or something similar. I emailed tech support and they just told me to call. Anyway, getting off topic. Thanks again, you saved me the work of rooting. I'm sure there are other benefits, but I'm happy with it right now.

Ow Samsung takes so long to release updates.. by the time they release ICS, another update will be release from google.

Guys,

Two days back i had updated the android from 3.2 to 4.0 (ICS)....the GUI is awesome and am loving it... However couple of drawbacks that i've found is regarding the camera and Bluetooth.

1. Camera doesnt work. "Cant connect to camera" is what the error is.
2. Bluetooth connects to my Nokia C3, however am not able to connect to the internet frm my phone.

Need help on both these cases...AM pretty much sure i will get a solution from you guys :)

I, too, had the oil slick/newton rings. Sent my in-wwrranty Tab 10.1 back to Samsung after talking to tech support and getting RMA number.

I backed up in case they wiped. Tab returned less newton rings AND all data; I even had to upgrade the firmware to current. The turnaround time was a little more than a week (portal to portal).

Good luck.
