confusion, sprint's website shows the phone running android 4.0, the regular update tool said update ready....then reading all this source code and people trying to devise another method of unbricking along w/ others trying to port 4.0.4 that was obv pulled for a reason, im a bit at a loss, all i can say is sprints website says the viper is running 4.0

Has anyone ran a logcat too see the filename for the ota update from google server.

Never caught it, had logcat running but like i said it popped up then disappeared.

Also: I spoke to sprint due to having my phone overheat error AGAIN, so, when speaking to supervisor, i basically asked why they are advertising the specs as RUNNING 4.0. I said " isnt that false advertisement?" She had nothing to say. Imagine if you were a new customer, and you read on sprints site Why this phone Rocks: something like (cant recall exactly and too lazy to look lol) Enjoy blazing fast speed on the LTE network with ICS 4.0. Plus it straight up says: Operating system: Android 4.0, NOTHING states pending update. Man if i ordered it, and then saw it was gingerbread, id be very angry.

Has anyone seen anything in logcat with download link for ICS Update or has anyone official got the ICS Update?

Sprint stores claims they dont have the ics in service and repair store. but they claim mid oct ics will be ready for ics push ota. I was told recently from sprint tier 2 tech support oct 24th. I went too Fayetteville, NC too try too get a upgrade too ics

Brother chill...let it happen..i had a friend talk to his district manager about the false advertisement of our phone running ics. He was rid they post that about two weeks before ota is released...

Edit count your o"s lol...question what would driving to that location have anything to do with ICS.?

I think they are trying too give people the run around about ics update . You would think LG and Sprint would made a press release in regards too release date of the update and changed the error on the sprint website in regards too android version. but what do i know.

Well guys LG did it again. there is another source folder for LG Viper I just found out about it. LS840ZVH . I downloaded it just incase anyone wanted it before LG removes it from website

This only means were closer to an update....the prior one they removed had been put back within a few days. And remember how sprint had us advertised as currently running ICS yet only changed it because of me pointing it out :p lol. They wouldn't have posted that if it weren't near completion..I say 2 weeks and we should be good, just my opinion...

Also keep in mind...

Current build shows GWK...which was i believe the postfix for prior open source. Also the kernel will need to be updated, so i look at it as either wrapping up what they send to sprint to compile actual software update, and/or , LG went for 4.04 as originally planned but somehow ended up as 4.0. I'll check out the source later myself but it's nothing to consider a delay, it means progression =).

Still be told Oct 24th but I guess we will see about that. also elite is getting another update for sprint only customer rollout suppose too be Oct 20th. So I guess when all start seeing 3g slow as you know what then your know sprint is up too something.

Let it rock bro, ease back, let it happen...Way too much hype/anticipation over a software upgrade...yes it will be nice, but for now, enjoy the phone, and help me gather some other devs to fine tune CWM, i have a rom practically finished...

So anyone get the update yet? Keep checking my sons phone but no dice :( When we were waiting for the 4.1 Jellybean update on my NS4G, we could erase the google services framework in apps & pull it. It worked for some people, but not all. Not sure if that would work in this situation...

In case y'all haven't found out yet, once you root ICS, be careful on what you remove as far as bloatware is concerned. I found out the hard way and got a security error screen when I rebooted my phone. I had to run the LG software update tool to downgrade back to GB then redo the update. But, I found a list of bloatware that is safe to remove after redoing the update. It can be found here: Dont bother debloating.... - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com
