Help ICS terrible battery life

John L

Newbie
My battery life is truly awful on my s2, running ICS, It goes down 1% every 2-3 minutes. I can sometimes get a full day but only when i'm at work, when i'm not using it. I always GPS, Bluetooth, Wifi and auto rotation off, also I've got it on the lowest brightness. I'm not a heavy user, I mostly just use text.

I'm thinking of reverting back to gingerbread, does anyone know which firmware has the best battery?

Thanks in advance,

Thanks, but I downgraded to 2.3.6 yesterday, and I noticed the Battery life is much better, the touch screen is much more sensitive and the screen seems to be more brighter.

^wow i seemed to have perhaps less responsive screen and washed out colours too since upgrading from GB to ICS.

hmm..

Just a thought... have you both checked... Settings > Display > Screen mode and Brightness... as I seem to remember that mine were initially mucked about with after going to ICS.

yes i have and they are default (as were before on GB).

there is DEFINITE less saturation etc.

for battery concern, here might be one problem. i had Google Currents app on my phone on GB and i'm sure it was set to sync manually. after upgrading to ICS, i've just noticed it's been set to sync in the background and over wifi. might not be the biggest problem but could contribute to poor-er battery life!

might be worth going through apps to set them up again.
