Root ICS Update and Eclipse ROM

Xplosive

Lurker
First post... and I have searched through the forums for somewhat of an answer to my issue but haven't come across one. Also, I cannot register over at the Eclipse ROM forum... where this question admittedly should be, though maybe it relates to general ICS update issues as well.

I was previously running Playfulgod's Black Plague, and decided to take the ICS update so I could install Nitro's Alpha ver. 3 build of Eclipse ICS. Once I took the ICS update (wiped everything prior to updating), I rooted (using AllinOnePackageSpectrum.zip), then did Bootloader Pwnage Tool for unlocked bootloader, then installed ROM Manager and flashed the cwm_bootloop_fix. Phone was worked okay, until the installation of Eclipse A3, this happens:

The phone reboots into recovery and begins installation. I get the "Installation complete!" line and then.... nothing. It stays in recovery and doesn't do anything. So, I took the battery out and rebooted into a brick. Thankfully, using Neph81's guide to unbricking, I flashed the V7.cab and am now on ICS stock.

What are your thoughts on this? BTW, I tried this twice, with the same result.

You're over complicating it. Steps should be this.

Get stock ICS -> run pwnage tool which roots, installs CWM recovery, and unlocks boot loader (all in one pass) -> boot into CWM, wipe data and install eclipse A3 -> reboot phone.

Installing CWM from rom manager doesn't always work right and you will be stuck with non-touch instead of touch. Also, you don't need to use the boot loop fix unless you're actually in a boot loop. This should happen at all if you are on CWM 6 or above. Also, CWM does not auto-reboot when you install a rom. That is something only RomManager does thru the use of a script.

Also, what do you mean by rebooted into a brick? If you got the security error, then it means you never fully unlocked your phone. If you simply got stuck at boot, then you should reboot into recovery using the button method (power off, then hold power+vol down until factory reset message comes up, then power button twice).

I don't get a security error, and maybe my definition of brick is wrong, but I get stuck at boot, and can't do anything. I pull the battery and reset and still get stuck at boot.

I shall retry using this method. I will let you know how it goes.

Success! Took a while to get into recovery, not sure if that is normal or I am impatient (pulled battery twice... did the vol down+power button multiple times). Anyway, really appreciate the support you provide to the community.
