Help ICS UPDATE FOR i9100G

khukuma

Newbie
When an official ICS update for i9100G is expected? Will an official update of ICS solve the yellow/blue screen tinge problem ?

try googling it.. the yellow tinge may just need a firmware update

Wish you could try to be a little more helpful with your posts.

Khukuma,

No news on when the G will get an update. You have to use Kies to see if yours is eligible. Else officially you are already on the latest.

Of course once it comes out, you do have options to flash if you want to go down that route. And checking this forum here once in awhile would certainly help. Someone is pretty sure to post it once it comes out. Lots of helpful people here.

Cheers

Oho....I read your posts late. Actually I sold that galaxy sII i9100G this morning in the local market and Brought a brand new HTC ONE X (International Version- Quad Core) at its place. ONE X has completely blasted Samsung SII in performance and I am happy with it but now again this phone is also showing yellow tinge like Samsung II though this tinge is less perceptible and thus can be glossed over.
One x has the latest firmware version of ICS and I don't want to replace it with any custom ROM at least for now. What to do then?

My yellowish screen problem is completely solved after continuously using the HTC One X for few hours and installing the third party apps. :) :). I am very happy now. I couldn't understand the reason behind it but it really worked. Brother Saywhatt must be right, screen colour/tint/tinge is a software issue.
I tried this formula on my i9100G too but it didn't work there. It is my advice to all my buddies out here that you should buy i9100 instead of i9100G. I9100G has several manufacturing issues/flaws ranging from phone heating up during games to screen flaws. It can't be updated to ICS too in several countries.
Overall, for new buyers HTC One X and Samsung SIII are far better options than SII.

ICS has been released for the Samsung Galaxy S2, "G", variant, i9100G.

The first CSC code to receive it is ODD for India.

See here.

Installed the ICS update today morning via Kies. it all went smooth but after the update the handset got really slow, and internal memory was running low. had to do a factory reset to get it working again. but after everything wifi connections do not seems to stick. they just keep on disconnection. anyone know anything about it?

ICS rolled out in Malaysia. Not sure when, but it had to be yesterday or today. I just upgraded, so far no problem. I already love it :)

What ICS version? Thought you were using the non-G version.

Not intending to upgrade to ICS right now. The risk is that have to do a factory reset. Problem with that;

1) No wifi at home. Office wifi is a little slow in daytime due to traffic. Killer to have to download everything again.

2) My progress on games are a little slow. Still haven't finish angry birds for example and would be killer to have to restart again.

Will at least wait until warranty is out. Then maybe root so can backup everything including saved games. Then when factory reset, can still get whatever I want back.

Cheers

I have iphone, HTC Sensation XL and Galaxy S2. I use lots of Tabs and Nexus because most of my friends migrated to Android after playing around with my phone. Today two of them bought SIII so I will be tuning, setting and the like for the next few days.

Anyway, my upgrade went without problem (using KIES). Everything works, tho just in case I back up my whole phone. I also use Go Launcher so I back up the Setting as well.
Every app works like charm, few automatically prompt me with updates for the ICS, all new G+, all new gmail client and few others... Everything else, works just great. I tested every single app I have on the phone, I check every sync, and finally, bought NOVA Launcher Prime :) Oh bro, I love it. It's my number 1 Launcher.

So, everything is ok, EXCEPT for one problem. Phone seem no longer charging from laptop via USB cable. That's the only thing I noticed so far.
Googling to find out more as we speak ;)
