Please Help. *After updating my Rzor Maxx to ICS it hangs on boot up. *I rooted it about a week ago and didn't think about unrooting it before updating. *Is there anything that can be done to get my phone back?

tmaertin,Dave,
I didn't have a boot problem but basically what you will have to do is flash back to the stock gingerbread version, then upgrade to ICS. The ICS upgrade is looking for EVERYTHING to be stock and all the original apps to be there.
Because I removed some bloatware and never backed it up, I had to do this as well.
I used Matt Groff's Droid Razr Utilty 1.6 to restore stock Gingerbread (it contains the current .181 version) and 1.7 utility to root 4.04 ICS. The 1.7 Utility contains the current Motorola Drivers in the drivers folder - make sure you install those first.
Droid Razr 1.6 Utility
Droid Razr 1.7 Utility
Basically here is what I did:
1) download and unzip both 1.6 and 1.7 utils
2) from the 1.7 util, drivers folder, install either the 32 or 64 bit drivers, depending on you machine's OS
3) connect your phone via usb and power it on - let you computer pick it up and install it
4) run the DroidRAZRUtility.bat file
5) choose option 1
6) power off phone, then to reboot it, hold down the power and volume up and down keys all at the same time to get into the bootloader menu. Scroll down with Volume Down and choose API Fastboot - then use the Volume Up key to select it
7) the utility will pick it up and flash the stock rom - it will take a while and move a few files. i believe i got an error on two things (cdrom was one) but those do not matter
8) after a few reboots you should be at stock
I was then able to download and apply the ICS update from Verizon.
After this I did a factory reset and rooted using the 1.7 utility.
1) Make sure to root again your phone has USB debugging checked and your USB connection is set to Media Device (MTP)
2) Use the 4.04 root option
3) After the hours spent doing this, go out and get some sun! I hope this helps you.
tmaertin,
Thanks for the detailed reply.
Things go well until I get to #6, it seems I'm unable to power off, holding the on/off switch down by itself does nothing, I have to hold the on/off and the volume keys in for several seconds before it does anything, it just reboots.
It doesn
Im not trying to step on your helps toes, and his advice correct, but i know what its like being in the op's shoes. Very scary.

The only way I can turn the phone off is to let the battery die, as soon as I put it on the charger it turns on and hangs at where it says "Dual Core Technology"Youre welcome Dave - no problem at all.
It doesnt sound like you are getting into the bootloader menu on the phone. If your phone is totally off, can you hold power and both volume keys at same time and get into the bootloader? then connect to usb?
