Ics?

I would say, don't hold your breath. It might get ICS eventually... in 6 months time or so, when nobody actually cares about it anymore.

Do you think the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will get ICS update?
I'm not sure I want it yet...Google says it integrates both phone and tablet OS's into one unified OS. But the two are different and have some different features, like larger screens and resolution on the tablets. I'm concerned that Google will add too many features and slow down the phone or tablet - that's what happened with the iPhone 3G I had. If you upgrade the iPhone to a newer iOS that is too bloated, the iPhone runs slow and laggy. I don't want that with my Android phone or tablet.

I have disabled auto update on my tablet, and my phone will only update if I give it permission. I'll wait to see how ICS performs before allowing updates. I'm happy with my devices now...I don't want that to change negatively.

One of the new features, that Google chose not to make a big deal about, is that ICS supports graphics acceleration for apps. So animations and graphics within apps should improve a great deal with ICS should the Tabs get it.

You mean hardware acceleration? If so, then it's about time and the phones and tablets will really zip along. I'll still wait to see what happens though.
;)

So the ASUS Transformer is getting Ice Cream Sandwich and so is the Motorola Xoom...How about the SGT 10.1? Any word about this?

Nothing official yet, but I expect Samsung will release an update a few months later after they add TouchWiz to the mix.

Wasn't there something about supporting devices for 18 months? Is be really surprised if the sgt didn't get it

Supporting a device doesn't mean they HAVE to upgrade to newer versions. It would be nice but there is no guarantee.

I understand what you are saying but in this instance, I am sure the discussion I read was in direct relating to OS upgrades. I wish I could find the article. If I do ill post.

Interesting. Surprised I wasn't told that when I asked.

It was just announced at the conference, so it's not surprising that first level tweeters don't know about it yet. I've talked to "experienced" sales staff that don't know about month old products, nevermind brand new stuff.
:D

I read earlier we're likely to get it in December. I'm not that convinced.
I doubt we'll see it in less than 4 months. Samsung is slow to do updates and they have to put TouchWiz on it as well. So maybe in March 2012...? I'm not too concerned about it...I'm happy with my Tab as it is. If the ICS update is good, I'll take it...but I'm not fretting over it.
:D

I'm also happy with my Tab. However, I think I'll be buying a new phone when a few more are available with ICS and I like the idea of having the same OS on my phone and my tablet.

I've just read a top 5 list of best things about ics. Now if the best they can do is face recognition to unlock the screen which was at the top of the list and let's face it, will be even less reliable than ios siri, I'm not too fused about the update.

I'd bet on yes. It's their flagship Honeycomb Tablet. Top of the line devices dont generally have to worry about this. Sure sometimes it's late, but it will come.

The ones that really get left behind are budget phones and tablets.
