Idea: Use Camera Flash As Status LED

This phone doesn't have any LED status lights. This not a terrible
issue. It's a design decision by Samsung that plays on the fact that
people don't usually keep the phone far away.

But it occurred to me today that Camera Flash could be used in
place of status LEDs. Obviously, it is larger than the common status
LED, and consumes more power, so it would need to flash in large
intervals. Let's say twice per minute?

Flash is strong so it would be noticeable with peripheral vision even
with the phone on its back. What do you think? Could/should apps
utilize it?

Hmm could be done pretty easily. I noticed there's an option for recurring notification too so you know if you missed an SMS.

It could be done, but I think that flash is much too strong for status LED, because it's using too much power.
What about touch screen?
No need that whole screen is flashing...u could set size, area and color of flashing light.
Screen is usually facing upwards & since it's oled screen i guess it would use less power then flash.
In addition, it could show you missed calls/messages when you press that light.

It would make a very good silent ringer, if you strobe both the led and the oled screen at once.

I tend to leave my phone on my desk at work, and it would be nice for the ringer to be completely silent.
