Help If i cancel my ATT Infuse, can I sell the phone?

I was curious after canceling ATT service, can I sell the phone? Someone told me it would lock up and I wouldn't be able to sell it. It will work for someone else correct? My cancel date is next week, so I just wanted to make sure, I was hoping selling the phone would cover most the cancellation fee which is a whopping $299.95

Thanks in advance.

I see people selling them all the time on Craigslist. Usually they list the carrier so someone could match that up for easy activation (I assume). Not sure if the carrier really matters if they plan to root it.

Yeah I figured it should be easy to sell. I just usually see people selling their upgrades, and keeping their old phone. I wasn't sure if the canceled phone would be an issue for someone to activate or not. I mean, it shouldn't be an issue if they are able to charge $299 to cancel their crappy service, lol.

There won't be any problem... either with you selling or the new owner activating. However, you're dreaming if you think you are going to get even close to $299.95 for a used, carrier-locked phone.

Craigslisters sell it for $200, so im hoping it will pay at least that. If not whatever, but prepaid has always been the way to go, since contract is worthless. Along with their hidden fees that pop up every so often, its just annoying.

So as for selling, do i just need to factory reset it when its deactivated?

I don't see how it could lock up. The phone itself has nothing to do with your service, that's all in the SIM card. So when you sell it, you just have to remove your SIM card, and then the buyer inserts theirs to get it to work. I bought my Infuse from Craigslist after I sold my iPhone 4, just had to put in my SIM card, no activating or locking up.

It'd probably be a good idea to reset it before you sell, so the buyer won't have any of your information that may be saved on your phone.
