Im posting this in the Admire forums too cause i have both phones :D

Hi i am aaron and i am pretty proficient in Java and Java Script but i have never tried anything androids way even though i know all so much about android and cellular info and phones i know a lot of stuff like i could tell you just about everything on any carrier phonewise and types of coverage such as Ev-Do rev.a or 0 or Hspa and i know a lot about android and metro and the actual phones you ask me about a phone i can tell you almost all the specs on it from processor too screen too what kind of cellular signals it uses for data and stuff. now i have never tried anything android but if its coded in Java i think i could get the hang of it real quick i just need a dev to help me a little ive asked Unforgiving about a few things (not about a release date for cm7) but like what phone is he porting it from (so i could start porting one myself) and how dificult is it too make a Rom and how to get started i know i have to take the android source code and make it too a zip folder with a META-inf folder in it and that commands what to do with the system folder but i dont know how to get started creating the rom and working with the source code cause ive never tried and if i do well in the admire (porting cyanogenmod 7 ) i might make something for other phones (weather it be cm7 or just a rom ) and maybe something for the Lg Esteem which i am getting in jan but i have a optimus m and an admire and ive been looking around and there is no mods for us as of yet i would like to change that but i need help so if your a dev PM me for some info and maybe we can get started :P thanks

get yourself a virtual machine with ubuntu 10.04 or partition your HD to dual boot ubuntu 10.04 ..once you have that setup, send me a PM and ill give you some direction as to start compiling..im sure my dogg ghost.rider will be throwing in some helpful things as well! but until you have ubuntu setup, you cant start doing anything. :)

Kinda.

it all depends on what you plan on developing.

usually you need a lot of ram and a high performance CPU

well i have 4 gb of ram and a AMD turion 2x dual core 2.00 ghrz its a 64 bit processor and ram is 64 bit aswell its just everything else is a 32 bit peace of hardware which stops me from running a full 64 bit operating system

Are you running a 64-bit OS?
Otherwise you should be fine.

no im not i have tried though and when i got my computer the sticker on the processor said amd turion 64 2x so i had a hunch it was 64 but the original install disks said 32 bit so i was confused and i got a system info program and it said my cpu was 64 bit so i was really confused then

Oh. well be sure to go pick up some 64 bit hardware, reinstall your OS (preferably Win7 and Ubuntu 10.04) and you should be on your way.

Im running a single core intel celeron, 2.0ghz, 2gb ram and running vbox on it and compiling ics source. if i had another hard drive i would have ubuntu 10.04 on it... i dont wanna dual boot again cause my computer crash twice. lol..

x64 is recommended.. but not required.. im building ics for the optm as we speak on a 32bit virtual machine.. dual core 3.3ghz w/6gb ram.. using ubuntu 11.10... get 10.04.. you will have less errors.. but im working through them.. and im so close to having this built i can taste it.. now lets just hope that it boots when i flash it lol
