If I just want simple features, shouldn't I get a cheap tablet?

Whenever I ask online or offline about getting a cheap tablet I am always told that I should get something more expensive.

But here are the things I want to use a tablet for:

- Browse the web
- Check e-mail
- Watch videos on YouTube
- Maybe download some apps for weather and a calculator

That's it. Do I really need to go big for that stuff?

I was researching cheap tablets and would like to pass on what I learned. I found two different types of displays; resistive and capacitive.

The capacitive displays are what we see on most android phones - tap, multi-touch, swipe, etc. These displays are much more sensitive than resistive display.

The resistive displays are best used with a stylus (think Palm Pilot).. you can use your finger or finger nail but these types of displays are difficult to use if you prefer tap, swipe, etc.

So, just be careful to check which type of display is used when buying a tablet.

Well if that's truly all you would ever do with the tablet, then yes, a cheap Chinese knock-off like the MID V7 or similar would be fine. The problem is, once you get one, you'll be more likely to want to do more. Can you afford to buy cheap and then have to replace later? That's why it is suggested to buy one of the more powerful tablets.

Besides - everyone always wants to run Netflix and play AngryBirds!
