If i root will i get ota updates?

if i root my phone will i still get the ics update over the air from htc??
im not gonna install a new rom just want root.

No, normally they disable the OTA's as they cause problems.

You'll get the updates from the ROM developer, and you'll also certainly get them before the official release!

o right i was just going to root and leave the original sim free rom on, only want it to run ad free and a few other apps.

Sorry, I misread your post, if you're not going to flash a custom ROM then yes you'll still get your OTA updates

I still wouldn't install OTA even if you're planning on rooting but not flashing a custom ROM as it could still potentially cause issues if the update ever changes your HBOOT version, recovery, radio or anything like that. Personally, i think that if you're going to go through the rooting process then you're missing out on the best bit by not flashing a custom ROM.

You'll get updates much earlier and more frequently than you would with OTA updates and the long-term development custom ROMs are significantly better than the HTC stock ones.
