If Samsung does not give official release date

If there is no official release date before this Friday, will you grab a 6+? I think I will be
What country are you in? I know Sprint said it will be here in October. Do you really want the Note 4? I know I do. I have had the opportunity to upgrade since Feb. I can wait for what I want a little longer.

Since it's going to be released sometime in October wouldn't it be better to wait? If you'd prefer a Note 4 over an iPhone 6 it will be worth waiting for one.

I do not think Samsung knows exactly when the date will be. Seems they were shooting from the hip in order to get a word in before iPhone, which might backfire due to lack of more information and dragging well over a month later for release.

Apple announced after Samsung and gave specific dates and managing a lot more SKUs, yet launching about a month before. The only way Samsung is spared is with the pen users and supply shortages for the 5.5". Samsung is about to become a distant third in the growing segment of big phones.

1. iPhone 6 Plus
2. LG with their multi million selling G3 (that IMO is far inferior to even the Note 3)
3. Note 4

I appreciate folks and their opinion, but timing for market-share is everything. Assuming you have supply to support demand of course.

My guess is mid October for the Note 4 and perhaps later in the month for Verizon. The Edge would be November, but I still do not expect mass volume availability for it even then. It will be pricey and almost certainly VERY Touch Wiz centric (No Nova or mods).

Added: Samsung REALLY needs to not drag this out and work with carriers to provide specific dates ASAP.

I saw the Galaxy Alpha on Saturday which is very nice. If the Note 4 looks as good, I may be tempted back from my OPO but that depends on LAG.

Samsung are very good at building devices with the latest and greatest specs, but the firmware is often poorly optimised or the hardware isn't quick enough to render detailed screens....Tab S is in this position. Its beautifully detailed and vivid screen is hampered by the hardware that supports it, or lack of well optimised firmware...

As the note 4 has a detailed screen and no doubt the UK gets the crap Exynos chip (compared to the 805 the rest of the world will get), I'm waiting to have a decent play and feel before I commit to spending so much cash on it...I'm certainly not pre-ordering this as I have with the previous 3 note versions!

If the Ex is the 64bit variant, CPU calculations should be faster than the 805. GPU should be similar though. I would prefer 64bit for emulators.

That said, the A7 is a true 64bit cpu architecture, but I know nothing about the Ex chip going in the Note 4 other than I thought was 64bit. Not seen a tech review of the chip yet.

This is what I'm saying. I do want the note 4, but I've been using this cracked screen for far too long, I hope they can at least put out a hard release date before Friday and save me from taking the plunge into the iworld+.

When it's all said and done though any of the 2 phones note4/iphone crushes my current phone in every way and I only need it for websites and videos that are blocked on my works network, I don't care about itunes or the customization of android(although I would miss that part). I do want the fastest "next big thing" at my disposal though (or closest to next big thing).

I think someone mentioned that their strategy was just let the public know, "Hey, we got this new sick phone coming out and we just wanted you to remember that it's coming out soon before the iphone releases this month." While I can appreciate this... it's done nothing but put my instant gratification hyper drive into overclocked turbo mode and at this point I cant wait for one of these new phones. The lack of release date is tipping me towards what I can get my hands on now, there is something intangible about having a release date set even if the date is far off.

The fact there is no release date yet leaves so much to speculation. Are they buying time to see how backed up the iphone's are so they can push back their release even farther? Are they holding onto their release date because they are having production issues that they'd rather not bring up? Is the release date actually closer to November than October?

I hear you and you make a solid point as far as timing and market share. Carriers are supporting the heck out of the iPhone 6 releases as well, buying out competition ETF's and offering upgrades two full months early.

one unmentioned truth remains, though, and that is that the higher quality phone will win where it matters in the end. At this point Samsung has enough clout in the mobile market to withstand this debauchery of a release process and you really just can't argue with the fact the Note 4 packs a much more versatile, powerful device.

sure, phone enthusiasts might be frustrated with the process, but in this battle the best man will still win. By mid February when the S6 is hammering the competition, I think the note 4 will be the champ.

I don't think Samsung is going to be the ones making the announcement of launch date - that would come from the carriers, no? At least for the ones not sold directly from Samsung..

I have both a GS4 (main phone) and a NoteII and they are both up for an upgrade. I was going to wait for a GS6 to replace the GS4, but I think I'm just going to go Note4 for my main phone. I think I'm just going to go big screen Android for my main phone. I was also thinking Edge, but I'm not sure how it will feel in the hand.

I don't know - if you really want an Android, then you'd wait for it, right? Wouldn't you just be disappointed if you picked up a iPhone6+ because of availability?
