Root If the Elite has a MSM7627A processor, how is it stable at 1.6Ghz?

I know that LG reports the Elite's processor to be a MSM7627A running at 800Mhz. But, how could the Elite be overclocked to 1.6Ghz and remain stable if it has the same basic processor as the Optimus S and V.

If I recall, most people can only reach around 800Mhz overclocked on their V's and S's. And yet, the Elite can go so much further.

It sounds more likely that the Elite has a MSM8655 processor which is easily capable of 1.4Ghz. And, assuming the engineering design of the processor allowed for a modest overhead of 200 to 300Mhz, that would explain how the Optimus Elite can be overclocked to 1.6Ghz (1.4Ghz + 200Mhz = 1.6Ghz).

So, did the manufacturer originally design the Elite for a MSM7627A and then change it to the MSM8655 last minute and forgot to update the reported specs on the phone? I know that Sprint and Qualcomm's own websites report the processor to be an MSM8655. But, LG does not.

I'm pretty sure we have the 1GHz model of msm8655. From what I've read, there are models ranging from 1 to 1.4GHz.

And LG are morons.

It is a MSM8655 Snapdragon 2 arm7 processor according to Qualcomm. This processor has a recommended clock range of 1 - 1.4 ghz.

Here is the Elite specs from Qualcomm Developer website

The OV I belive is a Msm7227 Snapdragon arm6 with recommended clock of 600 - 800 mhz but most of the time couldn't be overclocked from 600mhz causr they were unstable
