if you reset your phone to defaults will apps auto download?

my phone is a little slow so i was going to format it. i know my contacts and calender will auto download once i login to gmail. but will my apps download or do i need to wirte them down and redownload? i was told they are on a cloud and will auto downloan within the hour. who knows. this is why i ask

When I did it I had to go to the market and pull up my downloaded apps and re-pull them down. I did this by bringing up the market, hitting menu, and then downloads. It will have your apps listed both free and paid.

When you do it do not download anything else. Or it will erase the list off of your downloads page
