Ignoring certain apps in the status bar?

Hey guys, I'm using an HTC one X and I've been trying to tackle this problem for the last few hours with no luck. I have some apps that constantly show up in the status bar that I would like to not see. Omega Status Bar actually does exactly what I want it to, by having an "ingore app" feature, but the problem is it's super buggy and I cant seem to get it to work right, besides getting it to ignore what I want it to. I was wondering if any of you have a program that works better that I might be overlooking? Thanks in advance!

Most apps I’ve installed have options in their settings that allow you edit their status bar content.

Can you list them?

SETTINGS > APPS > ALL
Find the app and uncheck "Show notifications"

Well, if your One X isn't been updated to JB yet, you could try the app 'Notification History'.
The app promises to disable the notification ability of apps
