I'm an idiot, please help

I just got my new galaxy tab, and have only been connected to my wifi. I plan on going out of town the next few days and want it to use my data plan. How can I tell if I'm connected to 4g or a wifi? Obviously if I have wifi available I'd rather use that then my data.

My guess is if you have a 4G device and you see no way of turning it off, you are on 4G and not WiFi I am sure when you get your phone bill it will show up.

The tablet should have a data icon beside the signal strength indicator near the clock when the cellular radio is on and active. Also, if you connect to WiFi, the signal strength changes to a WiFi signal indicator which looks quite different.
