Im jealous of the Iphone facebook app!

Sorry if this thread is redundant, but I just looked at my cousins STOCK facebook app for her iphone and it has an inbox AND a chat already built in! Come on Google get with it! P.S. everything else on the iphone was meh compared to my droid!

Not sure why that is but it SUCKS! I hope they update it to make it better, as I am as addicted to facebook as I am my droid lol!

I just user the Dolphin browser and go to the full web page for facebook. It seems to do every thing that I need it to do.

It sort of IS Google's problem - they should have a team dedicated to making sure that common apps ARE as good as or better than ALL the alternatives. To make Android the world beater that Google obviously want, then they need people to WANT it. They need to make sure that core apps (PIM, email, text, sync) and add-ons to third party services (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube, etc) are better than anyone elses.

A team of a few people working with the developers of these add-ons would make a huge difference I think.

But facebook is the one developing the facebook app. They're the ones with access to the private APIs that aren't available to other third party develops (like bloo).

Accepted - Google are not developing the app, but for things like this Google should be putting pressure on or helping to finance or something, so that the "big name" apps are there and able to compete.

Google ought to be throwing some good devlopment money at games developers too.

So i just went to lite.facebook.com (Im using Dolphin Browser) and it seems like the best option so far...I cant seem to click on the chat button but other than that so far so good!

Actually it does open up in a new window so I'm really lovin it now!

Google DID put pressure on Facebook. Why do you think you even have an Official App in the first place? For the longest time, FB refused to even bother making an Android app.

I don't get why Google should fund development of an app that is not even necessary. Going directly to facebook with a capable browser yields the same experience as a desktop computer.

Actually a dedicated ap would reduce your overall bandwith usages.. as its mostly xml based more than downloading everything else on the site. Thats why every mobile app would differentiate sections.

Having chat support would be great. Also facebook could get of their asses and consider giving an open ended api.

Currently nimbuzz and ebuddy too (if i am not mistaken) have it. But then the question would arise how did they get access to it and not the likes of google.
