IM keeps disconnecting/reconnecting using Barnacle

Apologies if this has been answered before, but I'm noticing something weird when I use Barnacle. Downloads, web browsing, etc. work just fine. But my instant messenger applications disconnect and reconnect while I'm tethered, and I'm not sure why. Anyone noticed this before?

I'm on a Motorola Cliq running Vanilla Eclair, and the instant messenger program I'm using on my laptop is Pidgin.

Same problem here. Lg shine plus with 2.1 rooted. Barnacle works great except msn messenger constantly kicking off. If i use ebuddy just on the phone itself it stays connected no problems.

Bump. Anyone have any ideas? Or recommendations for other tethering programs? I have PDANet, but it's pretty limited compared to something like Barnacle.
