Root Im looking for a debloat list...

Android Enthusiast
Hi, just moved into a new Moto G. I didnt realize there was so much going on around here and Im still sorting out which version I have and what will work for it. Ive got XT1031 in storage truth and in baseband version it ends in BOOST_CUST :) Boost is not my carrier though (Text Now is) but I have read in other threads that they are on Sprint networks as well. I'm assuming some sort of variant hardware (I know for sure variant firmware).

I'm still reading on roms and trying to make sure whatever I choose will work for my device, Textnow seems pretty adamant that you use their devices, so Im trying to be carefull. Until I get all that sorted out I figured Id start with debloat. Ive got root, but Im having trouble finding a working TWRP (none of the obvious ones work, which leads me to believe that Textnow does something different with their devices) but until then I have philztouch working, but Im not sure if I can take a proper backup with it yet. It throws an error at the end, so I dont really want to get too adventurous.

If there isnt already a debloat list, I will designate this thread to be one :) As I get things removed and verify that all is still well, I will update the list here .

Did you guys remove my reply? or did I forget to click send? Basically all it said was thanks to Seraph08 and a quick mention of the 404 errors in the link. Not all are broken, but some, just a friendly heads up :)

Anyway the debloating has begun with the Gapps. So far so good. I regret that I did not make a list of exactly which ones I have removed but they are usually the first to go and I just plain didnt pay attention.

Edit: List has been pointed out to me! Whoopie, I dont gotta make it! :)

the links are fixed I guess basketbuilds was down for a few days or something. In the AOSPA thread I had changed the links to a server that was up. But basket builds is back up. My bad for that.

I'm running a new build right now it should be up before this evening unless I have to do some real work on it. But I also have plans to play a lot of Final Fantasy 9 tonight with my kitty on my stomach leading into South Park at 10.

Got the TWRP I was after so thank you for that. I still cant get it to load with the <fastboot boot filename.img> Ive read some about TWRP with this device and Ive heard it boots to a blank screen and then loads fine the next time: is there truth to that? I really cant feel good about flashing this thing if I cant get it to work with the boot command.

If you have a Boost Mobile Moto G XT1031, this TWRP will work for sure

Thanks, Ive tried that one and got the same results. Two purple ribbons with a black down the middle that fades to a blank screen. adb reads the device while the screen is blank like that. <adb reboot bootloader> brings me back to to fastboot, and <adb reboot recovery> brings me back to the recovery I have installed (the philZtouch).

Im just not sure if this is similar enough to the boost variant to actually flash it (since I cant see it work with the <fastboot boot filename.img> ) Is this thing identical hardware to the boost variant (Its from textnow, and they are REALLY pushy about using their devices) ? Im sorry to be such a pest, but without a working nandroid I dont want to bork this pretty little phone. I actually kinda like it.

Specs are as follows:
Shows up as a XT1031 in Storage Truth
Baseband version says : BOOST_CUST
Android Version : 4.4.4
and Ive got a 41.13(*) in the fastboot screen.

Ive seen boost hardware run textnow firmware before ,but Ive never activated the device so I can only confirm wifi etc. I just need to make sure I can get that nandroid before I start monkeying around in there :) Who knows how textnow will react to custom firmware. They seem to want people to buy their phones instead of bringing their own pretty badly.

I have no clue about textnow, sorry. I do know that the TWRP I linked will cause a screen glitch on your device since it is running 4.4.4 so you will be better off with an older TWRP built with a KitKat kernel.

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

there is nothing special about textnow. your commands are wrong.

Yeah that's the command for a permanent flash, but to test "fastboot boot recovery. Img" will load the recovery without overwriting the partition. It's worked on other devices anyway. I'll post back if I get it figured out

"fastboot boot recovery.img" does work on an unlocked moto g, but if i remember correctly there was a trick to it. I think it would not download the first time and I pulled the cable and tried again and it worked. Something stupid like that anyway.

strange. I have never seen this problem personally. But if it comes from your mouth. I'm gonna give it a 75% trust factor off the top broski.

I can confirm similar issues with the fastboot boot command (on the One SV.) I remember reading somewhere about needing a special command to get it to just boot the recovery (but never figured out what it was with the SV)

Ive never run across any toubles with the One SV, or the Desire 510 with this command. I have read that TWRP will show an odd screen after the flash and then will be fine after a reboot on this device, but I cant seem to get it to settle in. Id just use the philztouch that Ive got but there is an error at the end of every backup (even though it appears fine in the file manager). Ill guess Ill just have to bite the bullet and flash one to see if what I read is correct, I can always switch back to the philztouch after all.

Edit: Ive tried ALL KINDS of twrp versions, from the latest on back to about 2.5.x.x and all of them had this issue.
