I might be the one misunderstanding, so here is my screen cap.
I don't want to take anything out of the note bar. I only want to reproduce something that from what I've seen widgetsoid and tasker can't. They can turn the data connection on/off and tell you if you have a 3G or wifi connection, but they won't show what that connection is doing.
If I'm wrong then please help me make them do what I need.
Okay, let's try one more example:
This is an
elixir widget, as I mentioned in a previous post.
The first icon shows mobile strength - that's the bars for your cell signal. As you can see, I have crap reception in my home. The second icon is wifi strength - same as notification bar would give you, except this is a readout of percentage, not just the three little waves. The third icon is how much data is being transferred over wifi. The fourth is data over the network. The fifth shows that bluetooth is off, and gives you an option to set it on. The last icon indicates the same thing as your little 3g thing: that data over the network is on, with the option to turn off. I cannot recall ever seeing an app widget that shows whether your data is in 1g or 3g state (which hardly means that it doesn't exist).
Here is another one called
signal strength: It shows my lousy cell coverage, and that I currently have 3g off (which I recommend, btw, whe you have wifi on especially, just for the sake of battery conservation):
This was my best guess as to what you want to create in widget form. As you can see, it gives you lots more info than the notification bar. Other similar apps (and there are so many I couldn't even make a short list for you) will show things like wifi network name (tasker does that), strengths, etc. Some include toggling options, some don't.
This one might be what you're looking for, but I don't want to purchase it to tell you what it does - it's a buck.
Hope this helped. Let me know if you find what you're looking for.
