I'm moving on.....

As much as I like my TF700T, it's going on sale on fleeBay this week. Cromi-x is a nice help, but it's still not as fast as I feel it should be. I'll be checking out the new TF701 (and Trio) and hopefully it won't disappoint. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2304427

After picking it up, I decided that going forward, all my larger devices would have keyboard/docks. I especially like the removable keyboard with battery to double the battery life, but find the smaller keyboard hard to type on without making typing errors. My preference is the laptop style (close it and go) over other devices that use a BT keyboard and the tablet simply sits in a slot. IMO any keyboard that doesn't double the tablet's life is lame. :D

Well poop, sad to see you go :(
But I'm sure I'll be bumping in to you in other places around the forums.

Got tired of waiting and really liked the idea of multi-window and s-pen features, so jumped on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 yesterday. I hope I didn't make the wrong choice.

Congrats on the Note. I have to wait because I need my keyboard dock. If I didn't need it, I'd probably wait for the Nexus 10 refresh. However I think that might come out before the TF701 and really tease me.

"tease"... I think that's a mild way of putting it. Not sure if "taunt" is strong enough. I'm thinking more like the sirens that led seamen to their death.... :D

Installed the reportedly best TW rom and TWRP, but TWRP has touch screen issues and is almost unusable so back to CWM touch (gross!). This 4.1 rom has some nice features: overclock, aroma installer (1 gb) with lots of nice apps/features from other roms, but still is nothing special. Doesn't even have battery % in text or wake on volume key, two features I really want. A home button, like the 2014 version has, would be nice too.

Add to my pain, this was an overpriced "open box" item at Best Buy that had stickers/adhesive on the back, wasn't factory reset, the battery was dead and wouldn't charge enough after one hour to stay booted (wrong Samsung charger in the box). It had lots of scuffing on the back and scratches by the stylus and a gouge on the right side that made it look like a very rough 14 days of use (if that really was the case) before it was returned.

This note benchs nearly identical to my Note 2 phone, which I've thought was fast enough. I haven't seen much lag. I thought the white version would be cool, but don't really like it now that I own one. The silver trim on it just makes it bad. If I return it, I'd only be out about $25 spent on a screen protector and extra usb cables (both here on Tuesday from Amazon).

I found the stock recovery and factory image (1 gb!) that would remove root (except for the number of recovery flashes) so I think this is going back Monday evening. If I talk to a manager first (probably not going to happen), they may offer it at $100 cheaper, which would be tempting, but I'm thinking I should just get rid of it. I still don't know how to use any of the multi-window and stylus apps and wonder if it's worth it. At $599, the 2014 version has a home button and 4.3, which would be cool, but that's a lot of money for no dock.

Sounds to me that even at $100 off it wouldn't really be a keeper. You didn't have too much nice to say about it... :)

The only attraction was convenience before leaving town. I have seen new, open box 10.1's on fleaBay for about $300, which would be a much better deal. If I had seen how beat up it was before leaving the store, I would have left it there. Can't say I'm going to rush back there. This was a 20' x 20' Best Buy mobile store, strategically placed across from a bigger Verizon store. :D

Device was returned without a problem.
