I'm Al Mackenzie, also known on the internet as NightEagle. I found these forums through a quick Google search and I came across here at the top of the list. I am a big fan of Android devices since they are customizable and more open source.

Bought a ZTE Whirl 2 android, just learning how to use the SOB.
 
How the FU*K can I download apps to my computer, to be sideloaded to my Android, if the Goddamn thing just keeps shunting me to the freaking Google Play store?

Why wouldn't you just use the Google play store?
You don't have to worry about sideloading apps that way.

Becaus at the moment I'm currently (redundant, I know) unable to get out of the house, and I can't sign into the local "free" Wi-Fi (xFinity) around here.

So you have Internet at home?
If so.... You can't connect to your own wifi or is it a common open wifi that everyone in an area uses?
We got smart people around this site who may be able to help you with your wifi problem.
