Help I'm Really Confused

I just rec'd my GTab. It's 1.2-4349. I thought since it's not too slow for me (at this point) I won't root. I'm not very computer saavy and I'm not totally understanding the directions. Lots of terminology I'm unfamiliar with. I'm noticing I can't log in on Yahoo.com, I can't watch abc.com, can't download from the google market...

My question is, IF I root, will I be able to do everything I can with windows on the internet? Or am I now doing something wrong?

Yes, I've found that site and I plan to use it when I get my nerve up. I'm afraid I'll brick my GTab and have to explain it to my husband. Neither of us is very teckkie. Today he said to return it (and I don't think I can) and wait a while not sure for what ande get an IPad. I'm sure there are a lot of restrictions on them too. I don't appreciate Apple controlling the price on the equipment. NO SALLS allowed. Kinda like DeBeers controlling the price of diamonds.

The Gtab is really hard to brick. There is also an easy way to recover a soft bricked tablet, if that happens. NV Flash will restore everything back to 100% stock. Learn how to set it up and use it here: NVFlash - Viewsonic GTablet For Dummies

I was nervous the first time I rooted an android device, but when there are time-tested methods you just have to make sure you follow directions and you'll have success.

When I root will I lose all app that came on my Gtab? Is there a list of good ones to install asap? I have 1.2 bootloader. Best stable os as present time?

You'll be able to get all of the apps back through the android market. An essential app for rooted devices is Titanium Backup to backup applications and data when you update a ROM or decide to try a new one. For other apps, it all depends on what you want to use your tablet for. I like to use mine for news, so Pulse and Read it Later are two of my favorite apps. Check out the application section on this forum and also search google for other suggestions. There is a lot out there, so it's all about personal preference and what you want to do with your tablet.

As for the best ROM, Brilliant Corners is a very stable and fast ROM for the 1.2 bootloader.
