Root I'm stuck on this root step. Can someone help me?

I got to the part where I have to type "fastboot boot recovery.img" in the cmd but when I typed it, instead of going to the recovery screen like in sanman1185's video, it went to my home page. And when I typed it again, it says "< waiting for device >".

Has this happened to anyone before?

Nevermind, I just redid step 5 at whole and it worked.
