I'm suddenly having a very weird button problem

On my Galaxy S2 LTE/Skyrocket, my lock button works fine for the first maybe three minutes after I turn it on. Then, the weirdest thing happens. The volume suddenly turns itself all the way up, and my Volume Up and Lock buttons just stop working.

The volume down works fine, and I CAN get the Volume Up to work if I hold or mash it. Lock just plain doesn't lock the phone after that. The real kicker is though, it still turns the phone on from a locked state, and can still initiate a hard reset. Because of this, I assumed it was an OS or App problem, but I get the same issues when my phone is in Safe Mode, and when I boot my phone to that debug screen.

Why is this? I've looked extensively, but I haven't been able to come up with a solution. I would connect to Kies and try a system reset after backing my phone up, but Kies just hangs up on the "Connecting..." screen and my phone never connects.

What do i even DO?

Welcome to AF!!
That is an odd issue for sure  Have you dropped the phone recently and thought that no damage was done?
Perhaps a factory reset will fix it, but cannot be sure. It may be hardware related.
How old is the device?

I dropped the phone over a year ago and cracked the screen, but because of the time between drops, this is unlikely to be the cause. It's about 1 year and a half old.

Also I don't THINK it's hardware related, because the lock button works perfectly when unlocking the phone, and when the phone first turns on. If it was hardware related, it most likely would not turn on or be able to hard reset.

As long as you’re not rooted, there’s no harm in a reset, just a bunch of reinstalling. When I’ve had to do it, I used AppMonster Pro Backup Restore to get everything back...

AppMonster is an application manager for Android smartphones and tablets, that provides anything regarding installed Android Apps (like backup, restore, manage), by simple and powerful user interface.
