Root I'm THIS close to flashing a ROM

Ever since I upgraded my phone I've been having a bunch of sporadic errors....lockups, spontaneous shutdows, apps acting strange. So I'm really considering flashing a from. Before I take the plunge, though, I have a few questions

  • About how long does the process take?
  • How likey is it to brick the phone?
  • What are some tips for determining which ROM to use?

the duration of the process varies depending on which rom and which os version you'll be flashing. It also depends on the person. I remember a year ago, I flashed 2.3.5 and it took generally about 30minutes to 1hour. However, I recently switched to 4.0.4 and it took like 20minutes.

I think roms and the process of flashing roms now have improved significantly such that bricks dont occur as often as they used to. Even if you brick, chances are that it'll be a soft brick, which you can recover from.

As for which rom you want, its best to do research on your own as to what features are offered, what problems (if any) other users have been experiencing, and maybe just watch reviews on youtube.
